Reminiscing the Past

As we all know, Vigan City has many festivals and one of these are the Kannawidan Festival, but what is this festival? This festival is all about commemorating the separation of the two Ilocos in 1818. During this festival, the rich culture is performed in various ways, it can be by cooking the best dishes of Ilocano, hosting a pageant, dancing and singing. the Saniata is a popular pageant that gathers unique and talented ladies. the street dancing is also popular for the locals and tourist. at this time many tourist comes to watch and enjoy cultural shows alongside with the locals.  As the world advances many things changed, and one of the most affected is our culture. it is not in a sense that it is completely forgotten but this festival aims to let younger children to recognize our culture. The Beauty of Vigan City

This festival is held to commemorate yhe separation of the two Ilocos in 1818. It starts at the end of january and ends at the first week of february. Specifically it starts on the 25th of january. This dau is also a feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, he is the Vigan Citys Patron Saint. He was known as Paul before his conversion. At this time, many Filipinos return to their hometown to celebrate and join their familyand friends. Visitors are also expected to come to watch the cultural shows that are prepared by the government with the help of local industries and communities.
